My husband had a truss or tress (roof) dropped on his head then roll off his shoulder which he was really hurt. We got a personal injury attorney and a workman comp attorney. he went around and around with sdi and workmans comp trying to get things authorized to get his darn surgery and money too. they jacked him around for months. He finally got the surgery done then the next weekend he died!!! as of yet we do not know the cause of death. we are awaiting the autopsy report. he was only 41yrs. i can tell you this guy suffered alot because of all the pain. what i  kind of get from his attorneys is that the personal injury case will pretty much cover his bills until his death. And Workmans comp pretty much has ended when my husband died. So there is really nothing coming from anywhere to us. His next of kin in regards to any settlement on his behalf.i cannot understand why we cant settle for all the pain and suffering he went through until his death? If they do find that he died because of the surgery well then that is a whole different situation. but as of yet we are entitled to nothing.    signed confused in california :cry:
