Hello,
I am a father of twins and was prescribed Zyprexa for 5 months in 02. The Dr. Seemed to think that the Zoloft that I was on wasn't taking care of my depression symptoms. He claimed that he had heard of this drug (Zyprexa) and said he had 6 months worth of samples that I should try. This drug almost killed me I slept 18 to 22 hours a day and couldn't remember anything short term. Even my kids couldn't keep me up and they were 3y/o at the time. I had emergency gall bladder surgery and put on 50 pounds. I am 6'3" and have always been fit and around 210lbs. I now way 260lbs and can't no matter how hard I try or exercise cannot drop the weight. My blood sugar is all over the place and I can't function on less than 8 to 10 hours of sleep. Does anyone know if these are some of the longterm effects of this "wonder" drug? I don't know what to do next.

According to the Zyprexa handbook, the weight gain plateaus eventually. Stay away from sugar, drink lots of water, and excercise if you are not already. Van Helsing is right about the bitter being better than the sweet. I've never been knocked out that long from Zyprexa myself. Maybe they will recall Zyprexa eventually...Renfield
