Greetings all-
I was diagnosed bipolar about a year ago. After failing several drug treatments, I was recently prescribed and started taking Symbyax, it's a combination of Zyprexa and Prozac. I just came across this forum and am reading all of the horror stories about Zyprexa. Has anyone heard anything about Symbyax? I have only been on Symbyax for over a week, and the side effects, like many of these drugs, are no bed or roses, mania ups and downs, heart pounding out of my chest, living on 2-3 hours of sleep a day, anxiety, and vomiting. I would greatly appreciate any feedback anyone has about this drug.

From what I understand ( and I could be wrong) this drug is considered to be a sister drug to Zyprexa and may also cause pancreatic problems such as diabetes.
I also understand that most Bi Polar individuals who take antidepressents, such as Prozac can have problems with mania.
There are several support groups on the web for persons who suffer from Bi Polar and other mental health issues, and often times these come with a wealth of information regarding successful drugs.
Explore and talk with your Dr. Also if your Family Dr is prescribing the medications you should probably see a PDOC ( Phychiatric) for this condition. As they are much more knowledgable about the treatments. If your Dr is not willing to explore other medications get a new Dr.
Good luck to you in your journey in battling the Bi Polar.
