Neurontin, which is known generically as Gabapentin, may be linked to suicide and suicide attempts. Neurontin is prescribed for epilepsy but has been prescribed for numerous off label uses. Neurontin was approved for sale in the mid-1990s as a treatment for epileptic seizures. However, it is believed that approximately 80 percent of all Neurontin prescriptions were filled for unapproved medical conditions.

anyone using / used Neurontin for anxiety?

I have been prescribed a low dose of Neurontin
for anxiety / panic attacks.  I wondered if anyone
else used it for this and if so, did you find that it helped
or made things worse?  I'm afraid to begin taking it.

Re: anyone using / used Neurontin for anxiety?

I have been on Neurontin for anxiety and migraine headaches for a couple years and it has been a great drug for me.  It really helps my anxiety.  Don't be afraid.  I think if anything you might get a dry mouth or you may get really tired.  The only side effect I've ever had was dry mouth but I never did get tired.  I'm on a low dose (300 mg in the am, 600mg in the afternoon and 300mg before bed).  I know those are some big numbers but it's actually not for this drug.  I hope this helps but I want to acknowledge I know every drug works differently for different people so be gentle with yourself.
